  1. Point it at a TV set.
  2. Press the button once (no need to hold the button down).
  3. Keep pointing it at the TV until the TV turns off (which may take up to 69 seconds, but most TVs will respond within the first few seconds).

  • It may take up to 69 seconds for the television to turn off, but most TVs will turn off within the first few seconds. Although we tried our best to make your TV-B-Gone remote control turn off any and all TV’s, there may be some few that it won’t turn off.
  • Instant Reactivation Feature: Allows you to press the button at any time to RESTART transmission of all of its infrared codes. Since the codes for the most popular TVs are closest to the beginning of the sequence, you can shut off more TVs faster, without waiting the full 69 seconds, as with the original version.
  • Bigger Battery: Larger battery, allowing it to last even longer than the original model.
  • Stealth Mode: If you don’t want the flashing LED on, simply double-click at the beginning of a new sequence. The small, clear emitter node at the front will not light up or glow – actually, it does light up with infra-red light but you can’t see it!

Two Versions:

  • The North American/Asian model can be used to turn on and off virtually any television in US, Canada, Mexico and most Asian countries.
  • The European model can be used to turn on and off virtually any model of TV in Europe. It also works well in Australia and New Zealand.

Other reviewers have had pretty good luck, and that's great. It's what guided my selection to this TV eliminator (and possible vandalism device, hahaha). Got it today, very fast shipping! I excitedly tried it on the 3 TVs in my house, looking forward to the next time I found myself having to endure an irritating channel on an irritating TV in whatever place I found myself in. These TVs are two recently manufactured flatscreens (Insignia and Westinghouse) and one older tube set (Toshiba).
The score... 0 for 3. Didn't work on any of them. Some have a power-toggle command, and some have dedicated ON and OFF commands... so I tried with BOTH the set off to start and then with the set on. No reaction either way.
The red LED flickered for a minute or so, indicating to me that it was running through the IR commands... so, yes, I'd removed the battery-saving plastic tab and it was apparently working. Just no results as desired. On the older set it managed to open the menu and change the input--but that's not a desired result.
Maybe they need to update or expand the IR command repertoire... eliminating older ones in favor of current ones to save time, I don't know.
I will try it on other sets as I have the chance, but so far it is not functioning as advertised. I'd hoped at least ONE set would respond, giving me hope that I could use it as intended.

LATER THAT DAY... wanting to give TV-B-Gone a fair shake, I attached it to my keys (one of the selling points being surreptitious use) to go shopping. Stopped by Electronics, held my keys innocently in my hand, and faced the Big Wall of Big TVs. Tried it twice at two different sections... still no dice. None of them did a thing. I will concede that it's *possible* that the display models are deliberately disabled as far as control goes... but then how can their features be demonstrated when a customer is making a decision? So I have my doubts about that.

So it's still 1 star for "very disappointed."

My husband is a cancer patient so we spent a LOT of time in waiting rooms. Why oh why do they think we need TV??? Everyone is on their cellphones and almost no one is watching the TV. For some bizarre reason our oncologist's office had "Criminal Minds" on the set every time we were there. The nurses were snippy when I asked them to turn it off.

Okay, so it doesn’t work on every television, but it’s also not very expensive— what can you expect? When it does work, however, it can be a lot of fun. A story from some years ago: There’s was a pizza shop that insisted on keeping the TV on no matter what, even (or especially) when it was clear that no one is interested. I mean, college golf on the local channel? But the owners policy was “If they’re watching TV, they’re eating; if they’re talking, they aren’t eating.” So when the TV mysteriously shuts itself off, no one is bothered... until one of the staff notices (they can’t see it from the counter), and climbs up on a chair to turn it back on. A few minutes later, it mysteriously shuts itself off again. It’s noticed, the guy starts to climb up on the chair, and it turns itself back on. He gets down, it goes off. Eventually he gives up, and we’re blessed with golf-less silence. [By that time, half the diners had picked up on what I was doing, and were highly amused. Apparently no one wants to watch college golf except the golfers’ moms, and they weren’t eating pizza.] The remote can be concealed in the palm of your hand, too.

It also works on Judge Judy in the doctor’s waiting room.

Habe diesen Artikel an über 16 TV-Geräte ausprobiert und an keinem dieser Geräte konnte man es ausschalten? Habe um eine Rücksendung gebeten, so weit okay.
Die Rücksendung konnte man aber nicht innerhalb von Deutschland vornehmen. Ich sollte den Artikel zu Amazon in die USA nach 89030 Las Vegas schicken und den Versand selbst „Ausreichend Frankieren“??
Nach Absprache mit dem Kundendienst von Amazon wegen diese Rücksendung und Versand, würde nur gesagt, das ich eine Vorkasse leisten müsse und den Versand zurück bekommen könnte.
Für mich ist das ein sehr schlechter Service von Amazon. Werde diesen nicht funktionierten Artikel behandelt, Elektronikschrott Freud sich.
